What is the Central Nervous System?

The central nervous system (CNS) consists of the brain and spinal cord. The brain contains billions of nerve cells that control the activities of the body and it relies on the spinal cord to act as the body’s information superhighway, sending, receiving and integrating information to and from all the different parts. Your central nervous system is like a super-computer, controlling everything your body and mind does. All of your physical movements, tastes, sense reactions, feelings and thoughts are controlled by your CNS.
